Sofia Nisnevich came to art later in life, yet her journey has been remarkably complete and full of energy. Inspired by textured painting, she quickly made it her primary language of self-expression. Sofia creates works in which natural materials — sand, shells, pieces of bark — are not just compositional details, but carriers of the living force of nature. Her paintings weave together personal experiences, memories of cherished landscapes in Pennsylvania, and a deep desire to gift the viewer a sense of harmony. Her art is an invitation to a dialogue with the world, where people and nature are inseparable, and each canvas becomes a reminder of inner beauty and resilience.

“ONE WITH NATURE”

“ONE WITH NATURE” is not just a series of abstract canvases, but an attempt by the artist to turn the breath of nature into a visual language. In her works, texture becomes a living matter — sand reminds of time, stone and tree bark preserve the strength of the earth, while lines and light transport the viewer into a state of inner peace. Each piece is born from harmony and infused with the energy that Sofia seeks to pass on to the audience. This exhibition is a meeting with nature that lives both around us and within us, a reminder that beauty is always close at hand if we only stop and listen.

SILVER RIVER

A luminous river at the threshold of day and night, marked by a distinct textured line that resembles reflection in water. It is the flow of time, carrying both renewal and purification. Water here becomes both memory and healing, a mirror of the soul’s quiet passage. The silver tones evoke a sense of timelessness, as though the river flows through both present and eternity

SILENCE

This work seems to hold the breath of a windless morning—pure silence. The land dissolves into haze, as though the memory of an ancient sea still lingers in the cracks and textures of the surface. The muted palette of green-gray and earthy tones enhances the sense of suspended time. It feels as though eternity itself has momentarily paused within the canvas.

SUNRISE

A seascape of gentle waves touched by soft blue and pink hues, where texture gives the surface of the water a sculptural presence. Each dawn is a new birth, a light entering the very heart of existence. The golden accents make the painting glow with inner warmth, as if hope itself rises with the sun. It is a reminder that morning always carries the promise of renewal.

SUNSET

The fleeting beauty of sunset invites us to slow down and immerse ourselves in the brilliance of the horizon. It becomes a moment to press pause in our restless lives and simply breathe. Layers of color soften into one another, filling the sky with radiance and peace. This painting suggests that even endings carry within them a quiet serenity, an embrace of stillness before the night.

THE RIVER BANKS

Inspired by the words of poet Yurii Rybchynskyi: “Banks, banks… this one and that one, and between them—the river of my life. Flowing from birth until the final farewell.” The textured surface evokes both shores and the stream between them, carrying the rhythm of existence forward. This painting was awarded 2nd place at the International Abstractum Festival & Competition (June 28–July 3, 2022). It feels like a meditation on continuity—life’s journey flowing unbroken, between what was and what will be.
